Resource centre BG

The Bulgarian Supercomputing Centre (BGSC), operates and provides access to an IBM Blue Gene/P supercomputer, consisting of two racks, 2048 PowerPC 450 based compute nodes, 8192 processor cores and a total of 4 TB random access memory. The Blue Gene/P supercomputer is deployed at Executive Agency “Electronic Communications Networks and Information Systems”.

Parallel programming models

Supported parallel programming paradigms are MPI, OpenMP. There is also possibility to run jobs in HTC mode (High Throughput Computing).

Development software

Languages C/C++ ; gcc compiler toolchain, IBM XL compilers and MPI libraries, profiling and debugging tools.

Infrastructural services

User administration, authentication, authorization, security

The main authentication and authorization method is via passwords/private keys.

Workflow and batch management

Tivoli Workload Scheduler Loadleveler.

Distributed filesystem and data management

The PVFS2 and Lustre filesystems are used.

Accounting and resource management

The LoadLeveler software is used for resource management.

Operational monitoring

Operational monitoring is performed jointly with IBM.
